Hello World!

Boy, I am not doing so good with the blogging lately.

I was gone, I came back, I disappeared again. I am going to attempt to come back again 🙂

I think it has been about 4 months since my last post.

Since that time I have officially become a La Leche League leader. A became a Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST). I attended a training program to become a trainer for the NorthEast Mississippi Birthing Project’s community doula/breastfeeding peer counselor program.

And, discovered we will be expecting our 3rd baby the beginning of February! We will be having another homebirth. Munchkin is insisting that this one will be a little girl. I guess we will find out when the little bean joins us 🙂

The boys are growing in leaps and bounds.

Peanut uses full sentences and finally decided it was worth it to learn to open doors, turn light switches on and off, open the refrigerator, and attempt to use the remote control. Image

Munchkin is riding his “motorcycle” super fast all over the backyard. Please refrain from calling it a bike, he gets very upset about this 😉 He got to go fishing for the first time this past weekend and caught a fish, very proud moment. Image He is working on writing and remembering his letters. He can type his name out on the computer and recognizes it when he sees it. We got him his own kitten. He named him Dragon and he is about 6 months old now. Image

K took in a kitten as well. Some people found him when his mama got hit by a car and they were leaving on vacation. So she volunteered to care for him and he is now a permanent fixture. He is between 7 and 8 weeks old and is named Garfield. Image

We processed our Cornish Rocks. Our turkeys are huge. The ducks went to Grandma and Grandpa’s house this weekend because they have a pond. All the other critters are doing well. I have 4 chickens sitting on eggs right now.

My garden got neglected due to having no energy because of the baby, but that is ok.

We found Lily a home. Now we need to find Gypsy a home. She does not appear to have any pyrenees in her and we really need a working dog, not another pet. . . Image

Well, I think that is enough information to clog your brain for now 😉 Hopefully I will be able to keep up with the blogging again.

Playing with photo editing

I have been playing around with the online photo editing program Pixlr Editor. It is pretty cool and easy to use. My favorite thing to do is to do a color splash in a black and white photo. Is that the right terminology for that? Oh well, either way it is fun. Here are some samples of my recent editing adventures.

Hooray for Rain!

We finally got some rain this evening. Yay!

The plants and trees are thirstily drinking it up. Not quite fast enough though. Our backyard still managed to flood some.

I wasn’t prepared and so the goats got stuck on the other side of the yard and hid out in the dog house during the deluge. By the time the rain subsided some, it was dinner time for the goats. They braved the rain and gigantic puddles to run across the yard to the shed. They are much happier now.

The chickens are funny. The Reds have no problem with getting wet. Aside from hiding under the table during the worst part of the storm, they have been strolling around the yard. They are soaked through and their feathers are quite mottled looking, but I think they really enjoy the rain. Buffy and Rocky quickly took shelter in the goat shed. They are keeping the goats company now.

The boys played in an earlier rain shower. At first they weren’t quite sure if they liked it. They eventually decided they liked it and ran around and played. It wasn’t enough rain to create puddles, but Munchkin still had to put his new, red rain boots on. He loves his rain boots and wears them quite a bit, even when it isn’t necessary. Then both boys napped through the major part of the storm. . .I think it may be a late tonight.

I wish I had some pictures to share, but you know, it has been/is still raining. The camera would get wet. It would stop working. I would be sad if that happened. I could take an umbrella out, but it is also lightning, so I don’t really imagine that ending well either. Instead I will leave you with a pic of the Girlies (the goats) playing on the porch the other day.

Have a great evening!

The Week in Review

This week has just been one of those weeks. It wasn’t particularly busy or stressful. I can’t even really remember what I did. I do know that I didn’t have much motivation for, well, much of anything.

I know that Monday the boys and I had our chiropractor appointment. I have been going weekly because I had a nerve that had gotten irritated during the birth of Peanut. That irritated nerve affected the big toe on my left foot. . . Yeah, I know, weird. It is much better now though. Almost 100%. This was the boys second time getting adjusted. Munchkin had a few minor things both times because of all his crazy activity; The basic running, jumping, falling, crashing into things. . .Peanut had a few minor things as well. His are mostly related to birth. Peanut also saw a craniosachral therapist from two weeks to eight weeks to fix his latch and help with reflux. Both the boys are really great for their adjustments.

Tuesday I had to bring the dog to the vet. He was due for a heartworm test so that I could get him more heartworm preventative. The vet gave me guff because I didn’t want to do any vaccines. His rabies is up-to-date, that’s the one I care about. I think our pets are as over vaccinated as we are, but that’s a discussion for another day.

Wednesday we went over to my sister, T’s, to celebrate our sister, K’s, birthday. K is the youngest. She just turned 23 on the 19th. Munchkin had a blast with T’s girlfriend’s two children. A boy, eight and a girl, six. They had a picnic dinner in the living room. Munchkin thought it would be a great idea to dip his watermelon in the ketchup. He didn’t eat very much. He did enjoy a piece of cake though.

Picnic dinner

Thursday, I did nothing. I took a nice nap with Peanut while my husband took Munchkin with him to run a few errands. I did clean some junk out of the bathroom. You know, the half empty bottles of shampoo, soaps, etc that I didn’t like. I also went through Munchkin’s toys and bagged up the ones he doesn’t really play with. I’ll be posting them on Freecycle.

Today, well I guess now I should say Friday since it is 1 am, I had a dermatology appointment. Got a few moles looked at, nothing major. Then I brought K up to our Aunt’s house so she can get her stuff together. She has a flight today (Saturday) back down to school. She needs to do an interview so that she can student teach in the fall.

Today, as in Saturday, the boys and I will go to a La Leche League meeting, head back to our aunt’s house and then drive K to the airport. I hate driving to the airport. I’ll have to do it again May 2nd to pick her up.

See, not really a very eventful week.
Through all of this, Munchkin is really going through an “I don’t want to go to bed ever” phase. Bedtime has gone from between 8pm and 9 pm to between 11pm and 12am. He has been staying up, in the room, playing with his toys. Eventually K or I have to go in and read him a few stories and then lie down with him. I don’t mind. I like getting in some one on one time with him. Its Peanut that I have to work around. Munchkin has also started putting some sentences together. I love that he is able to communicate more to us verbally now.

Peanut has been full of smiles and laughter. We don’t even have to work for them. He just volunteers them, until you try to record them. . .He is so much fun. Both of them are. Life would be empty without them.

Peanut in his Bumbo seat

Munchkin is in bed softly snoring. Peanut is in my arms nursing sleepily cooing and gurgling and now we are back to falling asleep nursing. Silly, cute little one. I am enjoying a cup of chamomile tea(a second one, the teabag split open the first time). So I will sign off for tonight. Thanks for reading my ramblings while I tried to get my week in order.
